Nikita shares her story
“If you told me a few years ago that I’d be living in a three-bedroom apartment with my three kids, thriving in my preschool teaching career, and excitedly planning our first vacation with just the four of us, I never would’ve believed you…” shares Nikita. Head to our blog to read Nikita's story and learn how your support of Mary's Place helped her family heal and get back on their feet.
Black hair care drive
We're thrilled to be partnering with the Sophia Way, Friends of Youth, PorchLight, YouthCare, and Boon Boona Coffee for a second annual Juneteenth Black hair care drive! Throughout the month of June, we'll be collecting Black hair care products—supporting dignity, equity, and proper hygiene for a community that faces homelessness at higher rates and is often overlooked in donation drives. Happy Hauler helps families make-a-home
"What drives me every day is seeing the immediate difference a furnished home makes," explains John, owner of Happy Hauler. "These families transitioning out of homelessness have fought so hard for housing—they deserve to sleep in beds, not on floors. We're delivering dignity and a foundation for their new beginning." protecting families and their futures with homelessness prevention
Just last week, our Homelessness Prevention team helped a record 25 families stay in their hard-won homes! Families like Mark and Ashlyn, who cut their work hours to care for baby Cassidy in the hospital. With rent piling up and eviction looming, they called Mary’s Place. Thanks to your support, we helped with back rent and a few months of future help so they can focus on Cassidy, without fear of losing their home.
With family homelessness in King County at crisis levels, homelessness prevention has emerged as one of the most urgent and impactful tools to protect families and their futures. Click here to learn more about how tools like our Prevention program have a critical role in ending family homelessness.
