A path from A(I) to B(usiness benefits)

Feel like you’re missing out on AI? It’s time to connect the dots between promise and reality.

Adopting AI can be tricky, even when you have the right use case in mind. The people in your organisation can make or break any implementation.

Two key criteria that dictate whether technology like AI gets successfully adopted are its perceived ease of use and its perceived value.

These give us a clue why AI projects are so hard to get right. Firstly, AI is often very complex. Secondly, a lot of people are nervous that AI will put them out of a job, so the perceived value for your teams could be low.

5 must-haves for AI technology to be successful

Addressing the two barriers above requires AI that meets five key criteria:

EASE OF USE:

  • Intuitive user experience – the easier the technology is to use, the less resistance people have.
  • Transparent and explainable outputs – ease of use isn’t just about what the technology does, it’s also why it does it.
  • Seamless integration with existing workflows – the less you have to disrupt people’s ways of working, the easier adoption will be.

PERCEIVED VALUE:

  • Clear value demonstration and measurement – so everyone understands what AI is doing to help them achieve their goals.
  • Robust training and support infrastructure – help your teams discover what’s possible by supporting knowledge sharing.

If you pick technology that meets these key criteria you’ll avoid many of the bumps on the road to successful AI adoption.

Vendors have a big responsibility here, too. Many are jumping on the AI bandwagon and pushing out ‘solutions’ that don’t solve problems effectively.

It’s important to see what kind of AI pedigree your vendor has, and how they’re working at the cutting edge of the technology to bring you genuine, valuable solutions.
