Pluck the whole damn bird.

Some people are too timid or concerned about the ramifications to ruffle a few feathers, but sometimes you have to upend what is accepted or expected to get a reaction and deliver something nobody saw coming.

Sometimes you just have to pluck the whole damn bird.

Challenge the status quo, buck convention, do what others wont do as it may be perceived as being a bit too rebellious for them. Don't be them.

People love comfort zones, it makes life really easy. They love to know everything today will be the same tomorrow and the day after. Get uncomfortable, make others uncomfortable.

When you disrupt that little zone people get irritated, some get confused, some get downright angry. That's good. The more of those kinds of reactions the better.

I love this quote about art. But it can relate to much more than art.

It is thanks to those who were willing to make people uncomfortable and face the criticisms that we had great art movements, architects who pushed the envelope, musicians who tossed out convention and gave us punk rock, and so much more. They were all a bunch of daring pluckers.

Challenging the expected and making people think in a completely different way can generate fresh ideas.

Trying to please and appease everyone by following the lines that have already been drawn and being safe delivers the same old results, time and time again.

If you want to come up with something different, if you want to challenge people's thinking or even have your own staff challenged to think different then you have may have to lose a few popularity points by shaking things up.

You may get questioned, ridiculed, criticized, or even scoffed at. So what? Those reactions come from people not willing to get outside their little cozy zone, they hate different because they are too scared to stand out and be different. Don't be them and don't be concerned about them. Just get on with what your gut is telling you to do.

Be different. Be disruptive. Be more than a ruffler.
