PNR for Flights
A PNR (Passenger Name Record) is a unique code assigned to a passenger’s travel booking. It contains important details such as ticket status, journey details, and personal information.
What is a PNR?
PNR stands for Passenger Name Record is a record in the database of a computer reservation system (CRS). The PNR code is the most important code when purchasing a flight ticket, consisting of a six-digit alphanumeric combination (letters and numbers). That contains the itinerary for a passenger or a group of passengers traveling together. The PNR concept was first introduced by airlines to facilitate the exchange of reservation details when passengers needed to use flights from multiple airlines to reach their destination.
PNR Code is used to store and manage booking information for passengers and given after booking a flight. PNRs are essential for tracking and managing reservations and are used to facilitate check-in, boarding, and other travel services. PNR is required for online check-in and it is the fastest way to reach flight details.
A PNR typically contains:
Passenger Information: Name, contact details, etc.
Travel Itinerary: Flight/train details, dates, times, and destinations.
Ticketing Information: Ticket numbers, fare details, payment status.
Special Requests: Meal preferences, seat selection, special assistance.
Contact Information: Emergency contact details, and travel agent information.
Do you know where to Find Your PNR Code?
PNR code can be found as “booking” detail below the midsection of your digital travel document or at the right bottom of your mobile boarding pass.
How we can use a PNR Code?
Passengers can do online check-in or manage their bookings in a short time using their PNR. This code allows passengers to manage their bookings such as reprinting a lost flight ticket or printing the ticket at the airport. Therefore, passengers should retain this code after purchasing their flight ticket for verification and future reference.
How to Get a PNR Code?
When you purchase a ticket online, a PNR code containing your flight details and personal information is sent to you via email or SMS. To access your PNR code, keep the SMS or check the designated section of the digital file received in your email. It is crucial for passengers booking tickets online to provide accurate phone numbers and email addresses. Double-checking these contact details during the booking process is highly recommended.
I hope this article has provided you with a better understanding of the PNR code and its importance.
