QNTM Labs Cannabinoid Research Center Launched in Denmark

The movement to open up cannabis research is gaining ground. I'm excited to be advisor to the team at QNTM Labs creating a new Global Cannabinoid Research Center in Odense, Denmark. QNTM Labs CEO and co-founder Justin Ihnken said, “The new state-of-the-art QNTM Labs facility being constructed in Odense complements SDU’s existing R&D testing capabilities already providing analytical testing support to cultivators and extraction companies,” adding, “Ultimately, we’ll expand analytical services to offer complete GMP-certified testing and analysis capabilities, including final compliance test results”. 

Ihnken emphasized, “Beyond routine regulatory compliance testing, QNTM Labs will ultimately enable advanced cannabinoid research from executing scientific studies to consulting on formulation development through clinical trials support” noting, “QNTM Labs vision is about taking cannabinoid science to the next level and to accelerate leading-edge plant science for the nascent Danish cannabis industry and the world.” 

Connor Jensen Murphy, QNTM Labs COO, and co-founder explained, “We’re excited to be collaborating with SDU to build on their existing programs and expand into scientific research agendas, patient trial support and consulting guiding regulators, cultivators, extractors, and academia,” adding, “QNTM Labs will also cater to the global demand for research and discovery as well as exploratory projects aimed in furthering clinical studies and pharmaceutical-grade cannabinoid innovation.” 

While the new approximately 1000 square meter lab facility is under construction, QNTM Labs is partnering with SDU’s Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Environmental Technology and students to accelerate their analytical method development and execute cannabinoid research within the existing university labs. Rime Bahij, PhD will provide technical leadership as Lab Director of the new QNTM Labs Cannabinoid Research Centre.

Assistant Professor Rime El-Houri, from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Environmental Technology (KBM) said, “By collaborating with QNTM Labs, we are helping create a key component to Denmark’s medical cannabis ecosystem - a world-class laboratory and team working with industry and academic partners,”. Professor Jens Ejbye Schmidt, Head of KBM adds “We’re excited that our students will have priority access to a research lab as a center of excellence and educational setting that combines the best of a commercial lab with learning and innovation.”
