Sexual Harassment in the Workplace by a Lagos State Dietitian: I Spoke Up About Disrespect, He Responded by Slut-Shaming Me.

Dear Dietitian Malomo,

Thank you for taking time out of your (clearly unbusy) schedule to describe my body in such graphic detail. It seems rather deliberate, your attempt to portray me as unprofessional simply because your focus wasn’t on the event but on how my backside moved in a dress.

What you’ve written is nothing short of sexual harassment, veiled as a “description.” It reads like soft-porn masquerading as professional commentary, and it’s both disturbing and disgraceful. You will be hearing from my lawyer. Frankly, anyone who takes the time to pen such a voyeuristic account should undergo a psychological evaluation, not occupy positions of leadership. This isn’t just shameful; it’s a stain on the entire profession.

Let’s get something clear:

First, it is a bald-faced lie that I wore a corset. I don’t need to wear one. I am, by the grace of God, one of the lucky women He created in His most generous mood, Dr. Eko Miami standard.

I’m sorry that my natural body offends you. Perhaps your wife doesn’t have it, or maybe your midlife crisis is causing you to fixate on mine. Whatever the case, it’s not my responsibility to shrink myself to accommodate your fragile masculinity and unchecked perversion.

Your members literally told me I couldn’t present. So I should do what? Sit down and waste my time? You should be more intelligent than this.

Instead of addressing the real issue, the mishandling of that retreat, the total disregard for my time and professionalism (as I clearly stated in my article), you chose to ignore all that and fixate on my bumbum. That’s what mattered to you. Not the disrespect. Not a waste of time. Just my body.

Do you know how pathetic that is?

Sir, I put it to you that you are a pervert, and it makes me wonder: is this how you “evaluate” your female patients too?

The dress you’re clutching pearls over? I’ve worn it several times to events where I was not only a guest, but a keynote speaker. Yet none of the professionals present found anything inappropriate because their eyes were focused on the content of my mind, not the shape of my body.

The dress in question is attached below. It’s not sleeveless. It is a woven dress and I wore a full black underwear, ensuring I revealed nothing. Anything smart I wear will hug my figure, because that’s how I’m built. And where are the bulging busts? Is that how much you sexualized me that you began to see non-existent things? The real issue isn’t the dress. It’s you.

Many state hospitals don’t even have a single nutritionist or dietitian on staff. Onikan General Hospital, near CMS, doesn’t have one. Emergency Hospital toward Berger? Same story. But instead of addressing these glaring gaps in our health system, you’re busy describing the shape and size of my endowed backside. Priorities, right?

Since we’re clearly veering into jealousy and body envy, I’d be happy to recommend quality BBL centers for those of you who feel so triggered by hips and curves. Let’s stop pretending this is about professional conduct, this is envy, insecurity, and a perverted mind exposed under pressure.

This statement isn’t just shameful, it’s a stain on the reputation of every ethical dietitian who actually wants to move the profession forward. And maybe, just maybe, if some of you spent less time monitoring women’s bodies and more time fixing the disgrace that is the dietetics system in Nigeria, we wouldn’t have young dietitians roaming Lagos, broke and bootlicking for jobs.

Olusola Malomo (RDN, MNSN,MIDN,DKP) I plan to report this to Lagos State and the appropriate regulatory bodies. Congratulations you are about to be famous.

This reflects very poorly on him, and it’s disheartening to see. You didn’t deserve to go through that

My goodness, I'm sorry you were subjected to this. Still, kudos to you for being strong for yourself; speaking up and ensuring that your brilliance is not reduced to anything less. Slut-shaming tactics in this age should be unacceptable–especially in professional spaces. I hope the professional body addresses this seriously and ensures all members hold respectful and progressive standards moving forward.
