I have a passion when it comes to working with business owners that has to do with the excitement of success. Over the last 35 years, I’d say that it’s the successful collaboration that keeps me coming back and fully engaging with business owners. It’s like that “one good chip" on the golf course that causes me to play again.

What separates a truly game-changing partnership from a transactional relationship? From my experience, the most successful collaborations are always built on a few foundational pillars:
A Shared Vision: This is the starting point. Both parties must be looking at the same pin & aiming for the same goal. This alignment created a natural flow in the same direction. Without it, you’re just two people hitting balls into random abyss.
Uncompromising Trust: Trust eliminates the friction of doubt and allows for speed and agility. Trust is the oxygen of strong relationships.
Complementary Expertise: When a CEO allows their team of trusted advisors the freedom to be impactful, synergies naturally occur. Great collaboration relies on the team’s diverse talents which complement each other.
Communication: The flow of information must be constant AND candid. Great partners don't avoid difficult conversations; they welcome them as opportunities to get stronger.
The Return is More Than a Feeling
That “Win” feels great, no doubt, but the results achieved from successful collaboration can’t be denied. Performance soars with good collaborators. Innovation is sparked, risks are addressed and minimized and almost magically, the path opens up for smoother sailing.
A business owner at any stage can face monumental challenges but there’s no need to go it alone. Finding those partners with whom to collaborate can add tremendous value to the enterprise and accelerate success.
