Salesforce Summer '23 Release Notes Highlights

It is my favorite time of the year - the weather is warming up, the sun is shining longer throughout the day, and many of us are gearing up for time off where we can travel, explore, and disconnect from work.

I myself am gearing up for a two week trip to Portugal and Spain to celebrate my sister earning her PhD (congrats Jennifer McKee) but prior to that I wanted to share some of the newest features being rolled out in Salesforce's Summer '23 release that I am excited about:

  • Customer Data Platform Is Now Data Cloud - this has been announced for a while but we are continuing to see a ton of investment in new features related to Data Cloud. This release includes more features around segmentation as well as additional connectors. As more and more Salesforce customers accumulate mass amounts of data, across a variety of tools and applications - being able to harmonize that data and drive actionable insights will be critical. I'm looking forward to seeing Data Cloud's capabilities continue to expand and giving architects more and more intuitive ways to interact and produce the data necessary to drive key insights.
  • Build Screens with Reactive Components (Beta) in Flow - admins and architects now have a way to build screen flows that operate like single-page apps and reduce the number of screens that need to be configured, built, and clicked through. Components on the same screen can now talk to each other which not only makes screen flows simpler to build and maintain but this feature is also a huge user experience upgrade.
  • Service Cloud Voice Gets Two Big Upgrades - SCV continues to be one of the most exciting new features within the Service Cloud ecosystem. I'm elated to see that the setup process for those going with the Amazon Connect model continues to be invested in and made smoother. Customers also now will be able to evaluate the performance of the voice channel with new report types.
  • Omni Supervisor Wallboard (Pilot) - although not GA yet, this new feature is currently being piloted and I'm looking forward to it going GA shortly. Supervisors will now have access to more real time metrics through improved additional charts and I'd expect more and more metrics to be rolled out in future releases. The old Omni-Channel Supervisor feature was a great starting point for supervisors new to Omni-Channel in Service Cloud and this new wallboard will be a welcome upgrade.
