Seeing an Old Bird for the First Time

Mockingbirds are a common bird in my neighborhood. As I write, a new group of fledglings are drinking from a bird bath in my backyard. Their sound is a compilation of other bird songs, hence the name mockingbird, their colors are a bland gray and yet I love Mockingbirds.

These birds are the tyrants of the neighborhood, walk up on a nest or watch cats get attacked and you'll see tyranny in action. I saw them today a little different, they were a family of sorts and they seemed to get along with other birds in search for fresh water.

I watched them, at the danger of burning my corneas, with the high sun burning out most of their details and showing the formidable bills and. agile bodies of these most respectable predators.

Nothing is new under the sun they say and they're probably right, but there is always a new way of seeing something, even if we have to look into the sun to find a new perspective.

What's your favorite bird? Or do you even notice them or their sound, maybe if we start leaving a little room for nature every day we can see our world just a little different and maybe a bit better.
