Today we have opened registration for our 53rd Annual National Solar Conference, SOLAR 2024. The conference theme, “Connecting Technology & Policy,” will promote the ASES mission to “accelerate equitable solar adoption and universal sustainable living by educating and building community.” This event will focus on models and tools for negotiating the challenges to advancing renewables by following justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) principles.
The conference will take place at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and accessible virtually on an easy-to-use platform. We are excited to have another hybrid conference in order to bring together stakeholders from around the world. SOLAR 2024 promises to highlight the important ways we must work together to ensure all communities benefit equally as we transition to clean energy.

There will be a plethora of content and over 30 sessions to attend. ASES is accepting nominations for the following awards and Fellow recognitions to be presented at SOLAR 2024, taking place May 20-23 in Washington, DC at George Washington University.
Charles Greeley Abbot Award - Outstanding contributions to the advancement of solar energy through innovative research and development (R&D).
Hoyt Clarke Hottel Award – Recognizes significant contribution(s) in the unique and innovative application of one or more solar technologies, or tools that support the enabling of solar technologies, resulting in successful commercial endeavors.
Rebecca Vories Award - Outstanding ASES volunteer who has significantly advanced ASES’s ability to meet its mission.
John & Barbara Yellott Award - Graduate student with recognized accomplishments concentrating on solar energy in an institution of higher learning.
Women in Solar Energy Award - Outstanding woman having significant and long-time contributions in solar energy.
Leadership in Solar Policy and Market Transformation – Demonstration of extraordinary leadership and innovations in solar policy and market transformation crucial to the widespread adoption of solar and renewable energy and the ASES mission.
ASES Fellows – ASES members who have served with distinction in the advancement of solar energy utilization by way of research, education, public service, and/or service to ASES.Nominations, including the completed (online) form, nominee’s resume, other documentation, and seconding letters, are due no later than February 1, 2024.
