The Source - Dr Tara Swart

The Source - Dr Tara Swart

Finally, a take on manifestation that I can get on board with. In her book The Source, neuroscientist, Dr Tara Swart claims that manifestation is just another way of saying “I will make this happen”. She says, "Instead of expecting wonders and miracles, a connection between intention and action should be considered. We manifest things by focusing on them, visualising them and directing our energy towards them with our actions.”

The book is meant to help us understand how the mind works and how we can tap into its potential to create a meaningful life. She argues that if we can shift our mindset, and how by practising various mental techniques (emotional regulation, visualisation, etc.) we can achieve our desired transformation. I particularly enjoyed her references to neuroscience and brain anatomy, but also quantum physics, such as the law of attraction, providing cool insights into how we can use this knowledge of the brain to improve our overall wellbeing.

As one of her tools, Dr Swart talks about creating an ‘action board’ rather than a vision board. “I prefer the term action board as we want to create something that will inspire and manifest in your future through actions, rather than merely a vehicle for daydreams of second homes abroad and lots of money. We need to combine the positive desire with energy and action of emotional intensity.”

Here are just a few of my favourite excerpts from the book:

  • "The 'intention point' is the meeting place between the heart and the mind. When a goal is set from this 'intention point' of heart and mind, our intuition, deepest emotions and rational thinking all line up. Our intention and focus are strongest when our goals are aligned with our values." Dr Joe Dispensa refers to this 'sweet spot' as 'heart and brain coherence'.

  • "We can’t manifest what we don’t continuously notice. We must take charge of what we pay attention to and what we don’t. Our mindset and determination to achieve our goals dictate what happens to us."

  • "When you allow your brain to be conscious and focus on what you want in life, the raised awareness that results will work in your favour to automatically bring opportunities into your life. It's not magic. It's just that you're able to see the possibilities to move forward with your dreams in a way that your brain was hiding from you previously."

And finally, my favourite quote from this book: “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” - Carl Jung

There are so many more gems in this book. Happy reading!

Love,

Maya

Welcome back and Happy 2025! I am with you about manifestation... often feels like snake oil salesmen to me... I am very happy to see Dr Swart's connection to neuroscience, quantum science and more to make the practice more practical. Sometimes I "manifest" something beautiful into my life, and when someone asks just how I did it, I can only reply: "I have absolutely no idea. I mostly wanted it really really badly, was not getting it, surrendered (gave up), and it arrived." I guess this means I am most certainly NOT a master Manifestor!

So good to read from you again 💚
