Stand up to scams
A very personal note from me today.
Over the last few weeks, I have had many of you send me ‘fake news’ sites and advertisements featuring myself and I want to thank you for bringing these type of scams to my attention.
I am appalled by these actions and the security team at NAB have spent significant time chasing down these sites to make sure they are taken down.
I clearly want to reiterate I am not associated with any of these companies or products and remain deeply alarmed that there may be people out there clicking on these links thinking otherwise.
I strongly encourage anyone that comes across scams sites to avoid clicking on the links and report them where possible.
The actions are clearly the result of sophisticated professionals and we need to take further action to stop them. It is why I am so supportive of Andrew Forrest’s actions today.
While this issue won’t go away overnight, together we can play our part by standing up to scams and to protect the vulnerable who could clearly be impacted. We all need to #ScamFreeSocials
Thank you again to the many who have alerted me and I will continue all efforts to ensure these scams are stopped in their tracks.
Cheers,
Mike

5yWe need to stand against these criminal scammers, but also have authorities visit harsh consequences on them as a real deterrent to end this. Hitting digital media houses with lawsuits for furthering criminal enterprise with fake ads, and failing to filter is a good starting point as one UK exec proved when awarded £3M!!

5yWell done Mike to provide leadership principles for what is becoming a widespread problem without any effective deterrent. The same kind of attacks occur on organisations and on nation states, at larger scale and in more complex form perhaps, but based on similar weaknesses in our modern interconnected information environment. We need to start thinking how to build in business rules to stop such malevolent behaviours.

5yThanks Mike. I saw so many of these Andrew Forest wealth creation news and wonder whether LinkedIn should be accountable for fake news on the network
