Starting a Business: a Secret To-Do List

Starting a Business: a Secret To-Do List

The desire to be an entrepreneur puts you in an exclusive class—one that will require long, grueling hours and the desire to compete and win. Many will give up. Few will give what it takes to thrive. Even fewer will stick with it.

If you have the drive to get in it—and win it—then you have the substance for what it takes to be successful as a business owner. This is your competitive advantage. Your will is one of your most powerful weapons.

However, desire alone cannot make your business successful. Within that desire must be positioned a deep awareness of how a successful business operates and competes. You must understand how a prosperous business owner thinks. And you must adopt the knowledge necessary for peering into the minds of your prospective clients.

And that’s all it takes, right? No, that’s just the beginning. Read on to learn, specifically, about the necessities of starting a business that nobody talks about.

The Secret To-Dos of Business

You’ve met them. You’ve emulated them. You’ve tried to crack the code that contains the secret to success. But their secret formulas have eluded you.

They are successful entrepreneurs—the ones who seem to have defied all odds and come out on top. Their success doesn’t rely on luck or any other excuse that their competitors might come up with. Instead, they all share the same secrets to success. Here’s what they know:

  • Mentoring: Know in what areas you need support and then go get it. No one is programmed to perceive your needs and fill them. You must speak up, seek out the help of experts in your field, and internalize the wisdom they share with you.
  • Experience: Avoid giving advice or sharing ‘expertise’ unless it is your own, built from your own experiences. The most successful business owners know that in order to be perceived as authentic, they must attain expert status. And there’s only one way to do that…
  • Execution: The execution of tasks to move you toward your goals must happen every day—with daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly objectives. Every day in which nothing business-building happens is a day that the competition moves ahead (meaning you have essentially stepped backwards). Have a plan in place for reaching short-term and long-term goals.
  • Vision: At any time, you should be able to name your dream clients. You should also be able to answer anyone who asks where you will be in five years, regarding income, holidays, home and other life features. With a clear vision, you will subconsciously make the choices necessary for forging the straightest path toward it.
  • Reason: The most successful businesspeople know why they invest so richly in their businesses. They don’t do it for others; they don’t do it to meet some sort of status quo. They have a unique reasoning; a WHY that resonates deep within them. This pushes them to accomplish everything else essential to survival and success.

Now you not only have the desire, you have the secrets of business success in your pocket. The next step is to take the time to reflect on your own motivations—your own reasons for pushing forward to earn the title of Entrepreneur.

Your journey will be your own; it will have its own unique challenges and victories. But one thing is certain: today is the first day of many bright tomorrows.
