Stop Putting Yourself Last on the Calendar
Hi Career360 Friends,
Let me ask you something.
When was the last time you put your own name on your calendar?
Not a meeting.
Not a reminder to pick someone up.
Not a deadline for work.
Just you.
If you’re like most mid‑career professionals I work with, you plan everything for everyone else. You are dependable. You carry the load. You make sure nothing slips.
And because of that? You come last.
I know, because I did the same thing for years.
I thought showing up for everyone else meant I was doing the right thing. Until one ordinary day—a 90‑second phone call I never saw coming—reminded me that life doesn’t wait until you’re ready.
There’s no award for waiting to update your résumé.
No bonus for waiting to network.
No trophy for putting yourself on hold while the world moves forward.
That 90 seconds changed the way I see everything.
So here’s what I want to leave you with today:
Stop waiting until there’s time left over.
Put your name back on your own calendar.
Because you can be excellent at your job and still make space for your future.
I just wrote about that turning point—how a single phone call became the start of something bigger.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this might be it:
Don’t wait until someone else writes the next chapter of your career.
