Stranger things
Welcome to The Money, where we break down financial news and provide the TL;DR version of how decisions by the Federal Reserve, government and companies impact you.
The Wheeler family's 2,466 square-foot home at 2530 Piney Wood Ln, featured in Netflix's hit show 'Stranger Things' is for sale for $350.000. It boasts 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, all standing on about 2 acres of land.
If you're interested, hurry up. As of September 25, Sotheby's listing shows "Contract Pending" and Zillow's says "Active Under Contract." This means those interested may still be able to put in a higher bid if they really want this house.
Remote work isn't so remote
Remote work is alive and well, at least for now. Five years into the pandemic workplace revolution, roughly 38% of full-time American workers remained partly or fully remote in August, down from 44% two years earlier, according to federal data.
In a Sept. 19 report, the remote-work site FlexJobs lists 20 companies that have made flexible work a permanent model. All 20 have remote-work policies, which typically guarantee some combination of hybrid and fully remote positions.
Can the stock market keep rallying?
American companies are buying back their own stock at a record pace, even as stock prices are at all-time highs.
That kind of share repurchase activity can continue to fuel the stock market to new record highs, making any dips along the way a buy opportunity, some analysts said.
It's "an excellent sentiment indicator," researchers at trading platform Captital.com wrote in a note. "They tell you management is confident."
