The increase in suicides in the United States is staggering and devastating to anyone who has lost a loved one. According to to Center of Disease Control:

"In 2016, there were 44,965 recorded suicides, up from 42,773 in 2014, according to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). On average, adjusted for age, the annual U.S. suicide rate increased 24% between 1999 and 2014, from 10.5 to 13.0 suicides per 100,000 people, the highest rate recorded in 28 years."

Unfortunately, nearly 45,000 people lost all hope to live. From the outside having EVERYTHING to live as seen by others. I have witnessed first hand the horrific devastating impact suicide can have on a family, friends & colleagues. Survivors try to make sense of a "why" a suicide occurred and how did they missed the warning signs. How could they prevented a seemingly senseless death by their loved one taking their own life. With today's tragic suicide death of CNN super chef Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade earlier this week we have seen social media explode in "conversations" about suicide preventation. Much like after Robin Williams suicide in 2014, the public was shocked to learn of the "world's most funniest person" suffered from sever depression despite his external persona we are leaning about the "demons" behind Bourdain and Spades public faces.

Please if you are dealing with depression or mental health issues seek treatment. If you know someone who is struggling encourage them to seek help and help prevent a suicide. I know from first hand lives that have been saved by taking action. Let's reverse the trend and move suicides off the top ten death list forever. The cost is just too great and devastating to all of the survivors.
