The TAB Insider

Hello and welcome to The TAB Insider

This week, I’ve been thinking about how we use our time and how small changes in our routines can make a real difference. We often talk about being busy, but how often do we stop to ask whether that time is being used in the best way?

Start with a plan, not just a list

Every morning, I write out a to-do list. It takes a little longer than you’d expect, but for good reason. I start by listing everything I need to get through that day, then I rework it into a clear order of priority. In effect, I’m creating two lists. It might sound like extra effort, but having that structure from the start helps me focus on what actually needs to get done.

Protect time for deep work

We all have tasks that need full attention. For me, blocking out time in the calendar is the only way to make real progress. When something needs careful thought, I’ll take myself out of the noise and spend a solid hour on it without distractions. That focused time makes a real difference.

Messages matter, but they can wait

When I’m in the office, I’m constantly checking emails and WhatsApp. I’ll flag anything urgent and deal with it straight away. If I’m on the road, I stay aware of what’s coming in and handle anything that needs immediate attention. The rest I’ll clear in the evening so I can start the next morning with a clean slate.

Priorities, not just tasks

It’s one thing to know what’s on your list, but it’s another to know what really matters. I make time to review my weekly priorities, not just the day’s jobs. That quick check-in helps make sure I’m spending time in the right places, not just ticking things off.

Be selective, not just available

There’s pressure to say yes to everything, but I’ve learnt that it’s better to make a decision once and make it stick. If something doesn’t align with what I’m aiming to achieve, I’d rather say no early on than have to row back later. It keeps things clearer for everyone.

That’s all from me this week. If you have any questions or would like to discuss these tips further, don’t hesitate to reach out via email or phone. I’m always here to help!

Looking forward to connecting with you soon!
