FEATURE HIGHLIGHT

Multi-Currency

Upya’s multi currency module enables distributors to accept payments in multiple currencies. In countries where the USD is used in parallel to the local currency for instance, both can be accepted to pay for a deposit or a monthly repayment, easing the burden of sourcing the local currency for the clients. The exchange rates are static and set by the distributor itself who can change it as often as necessary to reflect the latest market conditions.

Commission

Upya’s versatile Challenge module takes the heat off of manual commissions calculations. It enables the set up of an automated complex system of commission structure based on new signings, payments or both. Frequency and types of commission are linked to product(s), deal(s) or field team role(s). For commissions based on payments received, the inclusion of the downpayment, the recipient of the payment, late payment or even the lateness can all be taken into account.

INDUSTRY HIGHLIGHT

PAYGo Solar: Steady Growth, Big Shifts in 2024

The latest GOGLA Sales & Impact Report (H2 2024) shows the PAYGo sector holding firm amid global economic challenges. Over 3.5 million solar energy kits were sold via PAYGo last year — a modest 1% growth — while cash sales grew faster at 5%. Smaller systems like multi-light kits (11%) drove volume, but larger SHSs (1%) and bundled appliances like TVs took a hit.

Regionally, East Africa led PAYGo expansion with 24% growth, while West Africa contracted sharply (-35%), largely due to the end of Nigeria’s subsidy programs and ongoing FX challenges.

The report signals a maturing PAYGo market, with consolidation, blended finance, and Results-Based Finance (RBF) models on the rise. As global partners rally around initiatives like Mission 300, PAYGo providers remain at the center of last-mile energy access. Read More Here.
