Be thankful for the superpowers you bring to work.

Be thankful for the superpowers you bring to work.

You may not have the ability to fly through the air or shoot webs out of your wrist, but you do have a superpower.  Your professional superpower is a talent or skill that makes you stand out in your career.  It can either be innate or something you have honed through education and application,” according to Val Olson a career and leadership coach.

Even if you have not yet fully uncovered your complete superpower, acknowledge that there is a distinct and exceptional quality within you that you contribute to your professional endeavors, regardless of the nature of your work.

Here are three questions you can use to help identify your superpower. You might have to ask your coworkers to help you with this.

  • What sets apart my contributions in the projects, conversations, and meetings I participate in?

  • Why do people depend on me?

  • If I were to leave, what would be lacking in the organization?

Naming and identifying your superpower can help you understand your strengths and provide a foundation for personal growth and development.  As a challenge, I encourage you to engage with your superpowers and recognize that everyone has a superpower gift.

Your superpowers are things to be thankful for in your work. So, what’s your superpower at work?
