#ThankYouTeacher2020 : #SelfBelief and #Authenticity

So much has been said in flash back about 2020. Reflections. Learnings. A lot in common. Yet a lot different for many individuals and families. I really will only add to the muddy waters on the subject. And yet I learnt two vital lessons through this year. Very deeply. More than ever before.

1. #Self Belief : When you go through tough times you realise there is hardly anyone who stands with you. Even people who may have reasons to stay grateful. Even the flimsy courtesy of support wears off fast. And as you go through the phase, you believe in yourself, your grit , your perseverance, your resolve to hold on like never before. And in all that darkness of the earth you finally scoop out an opening. And you can see the light come through. And you know there is a world waiting beyond the now. It is very easy to give up, lose faith in yourself, feel isolated, worry sick. But it is imperative never to lose hope. You have to keep your optimism. You have to believe in yourself even if you are the only one.

2. #Authenticity: The year also reinforced in me the power of authenticity. One may know so many people. You can count the handful who you realise are authentic. Truly genuine. They are emotionally there even if nothing else. The rest are only those who seek you out for themselves and their self-interest. You learn that is the way the world, or most of it is. And you discern people better than ever before. You realise how powerful authenticity is to a relationship. The fizz of social niceties cannot deny the wide gap in authenticity - leadership, relationship, associations. The year has seen many come out to help and support, And yet many did little when they could have offered a lot more. But to such authentic people your #gratitude can never be enough.

As I say adieu to 2020, I am grateful for the two life lessons I particularly learnt this year. It made me wiser and yet more vulnerable. And humble and resolute. Grateful and authentic. As I look forward to 2021, with higher self belief and deeper authenticity. Let’s continue to walk together and still more purposefully .

Have a happy, healthy and happening 2021. We make the world what it becomes.
