The Three Essential Steps To Building A Bulletproof Professional Brand

The Three Essential Steps To Building A Bulletproof Professional Brand

Hello Team!

First off...

THANK YOU!

Thank you for sticking with me through all 12 parts of this series on building your professional brand on LinkedIn. Thank you for commenting and sharing. And (most of all) thank you for trying the challenges.

Missed an episode of the accompanying short video course?

The course is hosted by me and ex-LinkedIn executive Patrick Shea-Stamford .

It's free to watch! Catch up on all the nano videos on the link below.

LinkedIn is still the most underused tool in a leader’s arsenal. Only 1% of senior executives post more than once a month. That means 99% are passing up the chance to be seen, heard, and remembered.

The most common excuse?

“I’m just waiting to feel inspired.”

Right. And imagine if The Financial Times took a day off because “the economy wasn’t that interesting”? Or News at Ten wrapped early because the news is “a bit so-so”?

You don’t need inspiration. You need a habit.

Pick up your phone. Write a quick post. Hit record. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be yours.

Remember: Your LinkedIn profile is yours. Not your company's. Not some algorithm’s. You don’t need a subscription. You don’t need permission.

And the results of a purposeful profile? They show up in real life.

If you post more, people will respond more. And some of them will even be strangers. That’s how you know you’re making an impact.

You, my friend, will be setting the agenda.

If I may offer three core pieces of advice, they are these:

  1. Make posting a discipline. Post, at least once a week, on regular days at regular times. Treat it like any other professional commitment.
  2. Stick to 2–3 key themes. Then explore the intersections where they overlap. That’s where your best ideas hide.
  3. Use strong visuals. A great image, especially of you, stops the scroll. Your words do the rest.

It's been a pleasure to start building this community with you.

Your feedback’s been brilliant. And I’ve learned a lot too, about the best format, about content, and inevitably, about myself.

So tThis is the final weekly edition. But I’ll be back monthly with more thoughts on building your professional brand.

And in late summer, I’ll be launching a new weekly newsletter focused on leadership. I hope you’ll join me for that.

Until then, enjoy the sunshine and keep building that profile. I'll be keeping my eye out for you!

Best,

Mike
