TIVA y Neurociencias

TIVA y Neurociencias

Mission & Vision

When I arrived in this country four years ago, I decided to start this project. Many people couldn’t believe it. That a newcomer — without local connections, without a hospital behind her — would try to create a course that combined total intravenous anesthesia with neurophysiology and brain monitoring.

But I believed in myself. I believed that TIVA needed a new language — One based on understanding the brain.

Many colleagues told me it wouldn’t work. Some had been here for over ten years and said: "No one does that here." "It’s too ambitious."

But I had something priceless: The faith of great teachers and friends who believed in me, and stood by me — even when the odds were against us.

That’s how TIVA y Neurociencias was born. Not out of certainty, but out of conviction.

👉 A conviction that anesthesia must go beyond a number.

👉 That we must understand how hypnotic agents alter consciousness.

👉 That interpreting the EEG is not a luxury — it’s a responsibility.

So I created TIVA y Neurociencias with a clear mission:

👉 To bring neuroscience to the center of anesthetic practice.

👉 To teach — and keep learning — how we can switch off consciousness, but we must first learn how to do it wisely.

👉 To help anesthesiologists connect the data to the person — and see the patient as a whole.

And the most important thing: This project was never about being first. It was about being real.

Now, as we prepare to celebrate our 3rd TIVA y Neurociencias Course, I want to say thank you — To every professor, every sponsor, and every person who believed in this project before it became “possible.”

This is our mission. This is our vision - To transform the way anesthesia is understood and practiced —by placing neuroscience, consciousness, and the patient at the center of care - And this is just the beginning.

Education is one of keys, but not the main one. The willingness to learn, to do better and improve outcomes is the most important one.

SALUDOS! FELICITACIONES..

Congratulations, Carolina! Your perseverance, trust, and patience are paying off. I read your comments with interest and find them very informative. Keep it up!

Great achievement 👍🏻 Exactly the kind of initiative that I would like to develop here in my country.
