Ice Breaker Speech Title: A Quest for that “CSF”
A very good evening to my fellow Toastmasters.
I am, Ayesha Sultan, I came from India to Dubai with my parents and my elder sister in the late 80’ and hence got an opportunity to grow up in the gulf.
I am happily married and got promoted from being someone's baby, as I am the youngest child in the family, to being a mother to a baby girl in 2019.
On a personal front, I am an explorer, I am into traveling, adventure sports and I am a foodie with an attitude, “as long as its Halal bring it on”.
On the work front, I am a General Accountant holding 10 years of experience in the Gulf Market.
I am also an ACCA Student.
Having been brought up overseas, I noticed I have developed a tendency of doing everything independently and I find comfort in having control over any task that comes my way.
To some these qualities may seem as my strength. My husband, may have a different opinion but that’s a topic of another day.
As per my self-evaluation, I realized couple of months ago being brought up in a protected circle and still inhibiting within that circle I have limited myself. Henceforth, my reach, my growth and my status of being an explorer.
For instance, I opted for self-study approach to prepare myself for the ACCA exams that took me more time to pass the exams and I always end up buying my furniture from IKEA, “assemble it, on your own”.
Having realized my shortcomings instigate burning curiosity within me, I needed to know how to breakthrough the bubble.
So, I began my research and found some really intuitive concepts.
Would anyone like to have a guess on what they are?
There are few quotes I highly found inspirational that I would like to share.
The key emphases are on the words, ‘We’, ‘together’ and ‘community’.
I soon comprehend that the answer to my quest lies in these words.
In the term used in our modern era of today, its called (any guesses)
‘Networking’
Networking allows access to group of enthusiastic people with innovative ideas, dominating life time stories and so much more.
All the knowledge and information are collided under one roof that motivates every member of that group to contribute, contemplate and evolve.
As a result of that we as individuals, as a group, learn together, play together and grow stronger together.
One of the communities I joined to expand my social network is PROs, Toastmasters club by ACCA Sportsmasters. I was highly intrigued when I attended the session as a guest where I heard speeches by people with stupendous talent about their real-life experiences.
“This is where”, I said to myself, “this is it, this is where I begin.”
