TQI QuickBits: New Mexico $25 Million Quantum Boost. Quantum's Spillover Effect. And More News in Quantum
Big congrats to all the teams who worked to secure funding from the New Mexico Economic Development Department to lead the development a quantum campus and venture studio in Albuquerque’s Innovation District. Roadrunner Venture Studios is leading the effort.
I humbly -- #HumblyNotHumbly -- submit that I acknowledged Albuquerque as one of the top seven "Tomorrow's Quantum Hotbeds" over a year ago. (This, despite the fact, that I have a devil of a time spelling Albuquerque. I really have to think about it.)
One of the great secrets of journalism is that when you write so much about so many things, eventually you'll get one thing right. That being said, the research institutions, the universities, the research legacy of the area all made that prediction somewhat of a no-brainer.
We hope this funding serves as the initial spark to move this city into a global leader in quantum research and entrepreneurship.
(Many of you may be asking "Why seven hotspots"? It's a fair question. Likely I was having trouble spelling Poughkeepsie, Coeur d’Alene and Ypsilanti to make it a top ten list.)
Hey. Word of warning. Lots of buzz surrounding pending quantum news from several leaders in the space. I'll keep you posted once confirmed.
Have a great weekend!

The Big Story: SEC Documents Confirm Larger Quantinuum Funding Round
Following a recent report of $50 million investment from Taiwanese Quanta and media stories on a pending large funding round, Form D documents filed by Quantinuum with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) now confirm the company has completed a fund raise of at least $593 million, making the potential final tally significantly more than the $400 million that was initially reported by market sources last week.
