Transforming our Neighbourhoods of the Future into predictive, preventive and stimulating living environments

I’m looking forward to joining a Who’s Who of the Netherlands’ health and social care practitioners, researchers and thought leaders at SMART HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS (SHE2024) International Conference in Maastricht next week.

Between May 14th and 16th hashtag#SHE2024, scientists such as Prof. Milan Petković, Niels H. Chavannes, MD, PhD, Camilla Evensson and David Abbink will address how our health and housing use are transforming through hashtag#AI and other innovations. Experts such as Prof. Habib Chaudhury, and Otto Trienekens will provide insight into how our homes and neighbourhoods are interconnected, and together influence wellbeing, especially in older people with dementia.

We are in the process of major transformation in the field of housing and care and I am anticipating a lively debate with Prof. Dr. Nico L.U. Van Meeteren, Marta Fernandez Bertos, and Annette Duivenvoorden, exploring how technology can democratise social care in our Neighbourhoods of the Future. Social aspects of living with care and new forms of housing are also discussed in detail with contributions from Prof. dr. Tineke A. Abma, Pauline van den Berg Nienke Moor, AFEdemy, age-friendly environments academy & TECNALIA Research & Innovation, Silvia Urra Uriarte, Anne Binnendijk, Health~Holland, Twan Kerssens, Lilian Beijer, Chantal Huisman, Melissa Bruntlett, Esmee van Selst Peter Roelofsma, Olga Görts-van de Pas, Bige Tunçer and Evdokimos Konstantinidis on living labs. According to conference organiser Masi Mohammadi, Living transcends functionality; It is the essence where our emotions, secrets, and daily experiences come together. Masi will further explore this transformation of our homes into predictive, preventive and stimulating living environments during her key note "Designing Happiness".
