Trust Is Built Through Connection

Trust Is Built Through Connection

In our increasingly digital world, one truth remains: trust is built between people.

AI tools can help us move faster, reach more people, and even personalize at scale. But they can’t build connection. That takes eye contact. Active listening. Vulnerability. Time.

When people don’t feel seen or heard—when decisions are made “by the system”—trust erodes. And in workplaces, that loss of trust shows up in disengagement, turnover, and exclusion.

If we want people to feel safe, valued, and included, we need to show up as humans, not systems.

Three Things You Can Do:

  1. Be Transparent About AI Use: Let people know when AI is being used, and what it does—and doesn’t—do. Transparency fosters trust.
  2. Keep the Human in the Loop: Wherever AI is involved in decisions (e.g. hiring, feedback, performance), ensure a human can review, revise, or override outcomes.
  3. Build Small Moments of Connection: A quick check-in. A thoughtful note. A listening ear. These small gestures go a long way in building real trust.
