Uncovering AI’s potential for good

Uncovering AI’s potential for good

Inform your discussions and decisions this week. The need to act on sustainability is clear but meaningful action requires a well-informed strategy. While two-thirds of boards oversee their company’s sustainability strategy, only 2% possess the correct, relevant expertise on climate or biodiversity, according to a 2024 global study of over 800 leading companies.

The Sustainability Atlas—a new generative AI-powered tool— is designed to support business leaders and policy researchers as they navigate the complexity of information around sustainability. Leveraging Economist Impact’s research and utilising Infosys Topaz, a suite of offerings using generative AI technologies, the Atlas’ chatbot provides succinct and informed answers to sustainability questions. Combining insights from 18 Economist Impact indices, 1,700+ indicators, 70 reports, and 400 articles from The Sustainability Project, the Atlas's interactive globe lets you map, compare and analyse sustainability landscapes across both advanced economies and emerging markets.

AI’s potential in emerging markets spans multiple sectors and use cases, ranging from education and healthcare to financial inclusion and business productivity. The technology has the power to drastically change lives—for example, using data-driven analytics to track crop yields, or leveraging chatbots to provide medical advice to underserved communities. But the capital, infrastructure and energy required to power and access AI are often lacking in poorer countries.

Our Ready, set, AI research programme reveals that only 12% of business leaders in emerging markets say that their businesses are ready to adopt and implement AI. Explore the current state of AI readiness in emerging markets, the main challenges in adoption and the steps companies are taking to address these.

assalamalaykom, Blessed Laylat al-Qadr In Islam, we are taught to have faith in God, but that doesn't mean we should sit idly by. The Prophet ﷺ gave us the perfect balance when he said, "Tie your camel and then put your trust in God." In other words, go forth, do your part, and leave the rest to God Almighty, for He is the best planner. Giving charity during Ramadan, especially on Laylat al-Qadr, should be easy, so you have more time to improve your worship during this blessed month, God willing. On this blessed night, support our life-saving work by donating your zakat and charity. https://www.launchgood.com/v4/pledge/contribuer__la_conservation_de__la_biodiversit_au_maroc Don't miss one of the most rewarding nights!  In the name of God!
