UNVEILING THE ARCHITECTURE OF ELECTRONIC EXPANSION IN CARAVANS

Welcome back to the next step in our journey! Having explored potential restrictions and proposed resolutions surrounding the "electronic expansion" in our previous blogs, we now introduce the embedded "electronic expansion" within the Caravan and its environment.

The Architecture Illustration: A Preliminary Glimpse

Visual representation is vital when introducing any concept, especially in system development. Thus, our "electronic expansion" architecture will be primarily presented through meticulous illustrations, where our system to be developed is still represented as an unknown entity or a "black box" as depicted in the figure below.

The "A. Electronic Expansion Black Box" is emblematic of the significant portions under development, with other isolated black boxes also about it. The essence of drafting an illustrative architecture is in the drawing technique, ensuring that elements and connectors are organized cohesively, making the architecture comprehensive and aesthetically pleasing.

Interfacing and Naming Conventions

Connectors to the black box, termed interfaces ("if"), necessitate development and are appropriately identified with names. This aids in distinguishing between interfaces connected to the black box and those that are not, the latter being inconsequential and, thus, nameless.

In accordance with Cpdm naming conventions:

  • The outermost black box or the system boundary is identified as "A."
  • The surroundings to "A." are assigned the id "E."
  • Subsets of the black box "A." follow the id pattern "A.a.," "A.b.," etc.
  • Conversely, subsets of the environment "E." are denoted in reverse order, such as "a.E.," "b.E.," etc.

This structured naming approach permits seamless expansion of the id, both inwards and outwards, to any level, maintaining symmetry and organization within the system.

Analyzing the Scope and Components

The architecture illustration below demonstrates how elements inside and outside the Caravan construct the existing environment for the "electronic expansion." This facilitates an efficient examination of whether the "electronic expansion" scope aligns reasonably with the capacity of the existing caravan equipment.

I particularly appreciate architectures. They succinctly elucidate a system's composition and serve as robust tools for both individuals and development teams. They are concise, visual summaries that help us understand the intricate details and relationships within the system.

Moving Forward

In our upcoming blog, we will delve deeper into articulating the requirements for the "A. Electronic Expansion Black Box." And as we progress, we will gradually transition this black box into an "A. Electronic Expansion White Box." So, stay tuned for more insights and revelations in our subsequent discussions!

I'm thrilled to have you all on this exploratory journey and eagerly look forward to your thoughts, reflections, and interactions as we unravel the intricacies of electronic expansion within Caravans.

See you in the next newsletter!
