Visit to BSB Saugbagger in Berlin
I wanted to share with you some of my experiences from my recent trip to BSB Saugbagger, the German manufacturer of the tinbin TC2. I learned a lot about their equipment and the manufacturing process. Three things impressed me.
First, I found out that BSB Saugbagger also has a lot of experience as a railroad contractor themselves. They do work for Deutsche Bahn, the German railroad authority. They use their railroad knowledge and experience to develop their products and keep making improvements to them. Here's a photo showing the inside of their shop.
This photo shows the one of the hy-rail excavators that they use as part of their work as rail contractors, with a new tinbin TC2 attached that we used for a brief demo.
Second, I learned that BSB Saugbagger has sold over 250 tinbin TC2 units over the past 10 years, with the majority sold in the past 3 years. They are becoming a popular item for German railroad and construction contractors. Sales growth continues in other regions as well, particularly in Scandinavia and France.
Finally, their overall emphasis on quality was quite apparent. They keep a lot of the manufacturing processes in house so that they can control the overall quality of the product. Here's a photo of a tinbin TC2 just before heading off to the paint shop.
And here's another showing the area where their staff work on final assembly after all the individual parts have been returned from the paint shop.
And here's a photo of the final product, ready for shipping.
After the visit to Berlin to see the production process, I'm even more confident in the product. The overall quality and the extensive track record gives me assurance that it will be a good fit for the market here in North America as well.
I know winter is usually a little quieter, and this is the time of year that people make plans for equipment purchases and trials. We have 2 units here in Ontario available for sale or a rent-to-own plan, and we can always bring in more units. If you're interested in trying out the tinbin TC2 for a week, a month, or for a specific project, please let us know and we'll figure something out.
