❓ Want a Side Hustle That Actually Works? Start by asking the questions no one talks about ⁉️

🧭 Start with....Why Most Side Hustles Fail Before They Start

If you've ever tried a side hustle and ended up frustrated, you're not alone.

You followed the hype. You listened to the success stories. You worked hard… and still didn’t see the results you were promised.

The truth?

Most side hustles fail before they even get off the ground—not because people aren’t trying, but because they chose something that wasn’t the right fit from the start.

Most people aren’t lazy or unmotivated.

So why do so many fail?

Because they’re chasing something that was never aligned with their life, their needs, or their goals.

The Problem Isn't You - It's the Starting Point

Too many people pick a side hustle by asking:

  • “What’s hot right now?”

  • “What’s the fastest way to make money?”

  • “What are other people doing?”

But if you don’t stop to ask what actually fits you - your goals, your time, your needs—you’re likely to choose something that drains your energy and leaves you back at $0 each month.

I’ve Been There

In addition to 35+ years in the corporate and public sectors, I’ve had a few side hustles of my own. And I’ll be honest—I didn’t make the kind of money people said I could. Not until I learned some hard lessons.

I worked hard. I followed the instructions. I showed up.

But I still ended up with very little to show for it.

Why?

Because I didn’t stop to ask the right questions up front.

What Do You Really Want?

Not everyone needs a side hustle that pays the mortgage. Maybe you just want enough for dinners out, kids’ sports, or vacation savings.

If that’s you, there are plenty of options. You don’t need something big or long-term, and you might not care if it resets to $0 every month.

But if what you’re after is:

  • Consistent monthly income

  • Growth that builds over time

  • Something you don’t have to restart every 30 days...

Then you’ve got to ask different questions.

Questions like:

  • What kind of time can I consistently commit?

  • What skills or resources do I already have?

  • What kind of support system do I need?

  • How soon do I actually need the money?

  • Am I building something that can truly grow - and that there is documented proof that it really DOES grow - or are you just chasing a quick fix?

You Can’t Find the Right Fit Until You Know What You’re Looking For

Most side hustles sound good in theory. But, not all of them align with your life, your energy, or your timeline.

That’s what took me the longest to learn.

Once I got clear on what I really wanted—and what I didn’t—I could finally evaluate the opportunities in front of me. I could say no without guilt. And I could say yes with confidence.

And I don’t just mean saying “yes” to $1K/month or $5K/month, etc. Let’s be honest - it’s not just about the number.

It’s about what that money allows you to do. And how much you really want that outcome.

Spot on: most side hustles flop before they start because we ignore the internal “this isn’t me” alarm. Don’t fight the conflict—use it. When you get honest about your goals (and what you don’t want), you stop starting over every month. S.P.A.R.K is my go-to for cutting through the noise and finding what truly fits. The right hustle doesn’t drain you—it energizes you.

When evaluating a business opportunity (whether full-time, part-time or spare-time/side hustle), you ideally need to find the trifecta: 1. A product line or service for which there is a need in the market, that you are going to use, and that you will be excited to promote to others. 2. A company whose values match yours and whose mission you can get behind. 3. People you can respect, learn from/with, and you want to spend time with.
