Weekly offshore wind updates
1.1 GW Floating offshore wind project has received permit from the Italian government
Galileo Energy and Hope Group have secured an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) permit for their 1.1 GW Barium Bay floating wind project in the Adriatic Sea — a major step for Italy’s offshore wind sector.
– This strengthens the pipeline for the FER II auction in 2025, making it more competitive, says Saverio Ventrelli, leader of Norwegian Offshore Wind’s Italy Working Group.
– With Port of Taranto and Brindisi identified by Italian Government as key areas for offshore wind and strong fabrication capabilities already in place, the Puglia region has taken a unique position for offshore wind development in Italy, adds Tor Arne Johnsen, EU Advisor for Norwegian Offshore Wind.
Norwegian Offshore Wind will continue to expand activities supporting members in the Italian market.
