Welcome to my personal Blog
📢📢📢*scratch* *scratch* test... test... so, how does this LinkedIn Blog function actually work here??? Hmmm... no idea, well, let's just get started.
Welcome to my personal blog about the person Thomas Caspar (me, haha) and what's going on with me personally, professionally and much more. The idea for this monthly blog came to me when I listened to a podcast in January and I then made this one of my personal goals at our annual "goal setting" meeting at Pillar-X. I've been working on it ever since.
The aim is to give my network a little insight into my world and to tell everyone what happens in the world of Thomas - managing director, honorary member, private person.
Oh yes, and of course it should also be an incentive for me to finally write something again and thus improve my writing skills. And if I don't make it, then Louise and Daniel will punish me at the end of the year because I haven't reached my personal goal.
What gives you the incentive to step out of your comfort zone? And do you set yourself certain goals that you want to achieve by the end of the year?
Personally, I am currently on a bit of an up and down journey, although to be fair I have to say that things are currently on the up.
As many of you may know, sport is one of my passions, which I don't want to neglect at any price. My weekly plan includes 2x swimming and 1x jogging. Hmmm... yes, the jogging hasn't worked out so well in the last few weeks. Be it because of a lack of motivation or simply because I was on the road all the time and therefore found a convenient excuse not to go running. Nevertheless, it is incredibly important for me to rely on my consistency again and “just do it”! Funnily enough, I don't have any motivation problems when it comes to swimming, so I always do it. I wonder what the reason for this is? Well, I've always been a water rat.
But why do I do so much #sport? It's simple! For me, it's about finding a certain balance to my professional activities. Sport gives me a lot back personally and I can switch off extremely well. Of course, it's also about getting back into shape and training my fitness. Thanks to Corona, I have gained about 15 kg in the last 2 years. What can I say? It's my own fault - and laziness too!
But hey, since I started exercising intensively again at the beginning of 2022, I've already lost about 7 kg. So you see, there's still room for improvement, but in my opinion I'm on the right track. Only the #sugar addiction left to go away... But one step at a time.
Business-wise, we at Pillar-X are doing very well. If you follow us on our business page, you will also see that we have currently landed 6 new projects. Oh... Daniel have I already given too much? Okay, shhh, I can't really tell you any more than that. However, if you want to know more about it, do not hesitate to give our company page a #follow so you don't miss any more updates.
We also publish a new blog bi-weekly about topics that influence and shape our business. It gives insight into what and why we do what we do. Check it out because there are always exciting topics and updates about our projects in #Liverpool, #Glasgow and #Bradford.
If you're wondering why we're doing this, check out our website for more information about us and the UK property market.
Who would have thought 2 years ago that I would become an entrepreneur and start a company together with my brother? Well, I certainly didn't, and yet here I am today, running my own business and proud to say that we hired our first employee, Louise, at the beginning of February.
I am personally immensely grateful for Louise's help. Louise takes a lot of work off our hands which we used to do at weekends and late at night during the week. Well... it's not that we don't do that nowadays, however, the work has become a lot easier and it's good to know that we have an employee we can rely on 120%. Thank you, Louise, you are doing a fantastic job!
I would also like to take a small detour into the investment world and the current market events surrounding #investments. First of all, I am not a financial expert and am only sharing my personal knowledge, which I have accumulated as a private investor since 2014.
The current investment market, be it shares, precious metals or cryptocurrencies, is in a turbulent phase. This is ultimately also due to current events around the world and those that have led to extreme adjustments in the last 3 years.
In my opinion, we are not in a very fortunate situation at the moment, which in turn is also reflected by the market. What I find very important here is to stay focused and not to react emotionally to investments. Personally, it helps me to take a so-called "zoomed out" look at a certain market. In other words, where were we 10 years ago in terms of prices and where are we today? A short-term view is often not advantageous, so I always recommend looking at the "bigger picture".
How do you see the current market? Are you more #bearish or #bullish? In which investment market are you active and where do you see it going in the next 5 years? Feel free to let me know in the comments as I would personally be very interested to know what your thoughts on this is.
Finally, I would like to say a few final words and summarise what I have written above.
Oh boy, have I written a lot! Actually, this was not really planned, and I wanted to keep it to a maximum of one A4 page. Well, what the heck, a lot is happening at the moment so why not share it?
Personally, I'm really on the upswing again, which in turn motivates me to keep going every day. Nevertheless, I have not yet reached where I want to be, so for me it means – push, push, push!
Business-wise, I really can't complain, even though it's still a long journey for #Pillar-X until the company is where we want it to be. However, I enjoy working with Louise and Daniel every day even if we are facing challenges sometimes. In my opinion, there are no problems, only challenges, and for these there are solutions to be found.
For the investment world, I can only give you one thing - take a breath, think rationally, leave emotions out of it and switch off the news once in a while.
So, I would like to conclude my first blog and thank you in advance for any feedback. If you have read to the end, then respect! You really showed stamina. 😁
Until the next update in June 🚀
Kindest, Thomas

3yDear Thomas Caspar aka #businesspartner aka #brother aka #sometimesapaininthearse aka #butmostlyourlifesaver. I must say, this is an amazing first blog from you and it gives everyone a great idea into who you are and what you stand for! I'm proud of you, as taking action isn't always easy! Has it ever been easy? I want to also turn the attention back to you! YOU do a great job as well, and although I don't always enjoy weekends and nights working (haha!) I DO enjoy working with you, too. Neither Pillar-X Ltd nor Pillar-X GmbH would be where it is today without you. I had to laugh, when you first blamed #covid for your weight gain, but immediately took responsibility again ;-) Furthermore, I know it can be quite challenging working with me every once in a while. Sometimes, I'm pretty brash. However, it's where I usually turn a blind eye to, where YOU actively look. I do appreciate that and that's what makes a team work! Keep it up, and I'm looking forward to reading your next blog. 🙋♂️🙌
