What’s New with SAP Connectivity in Microsoft Fabric
For most enterprises, 𝐒𝐀𝐏 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦, 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. From finance and logistics to HR and procurement, critical business data lives within SAP environments. That’s why when organizations adopt Microsoft Fabric for unified analytics and AI, one of the first questions they ask is: “How can I bring my SAP data into Fabric, efficiently, securely, and at scale?”
Over the past year, we’ve been listening to this need closely. We’ve been working to enhance SAP integration options in Microsoft Fabric, giving customers more flexibility, better performance, and support for the unique complexities of SAP systems.
In this blog, we’re excited to share the 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 (𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 2025) that make it easier than ever to connect, transform, and analyze SAP data inside Microsoft Fabric.

Data silos are one of the biggest challenges in building a modern data estate. And in many organizations, 𝐒𝐀𝐏 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞. Business users need to combine SAP data with other sources, like CRM, Azure SQL, Excel files, and external APIs, for full visibility.
Whether you're a data engineer preparing enterprise pipelines, a BI analyst blending SAP data with Power BI dashboards, or a data scientist building ML models on customer operations, 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐀𝐏 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥.
That’s why we’ve continued to invest in making SAP connectivity more powerful, versatile, and accessible, no matter where your SAP systems are hosted or how your teams use them.

Fabric is designed to support all data personas, technical and non-technical alike. Our approach to SAP integration reflects that. Today, we offer three broad methods to bring SAP data into Fabric:
𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭-𝐢𝐧, 𝐨𝐮𝐭-𝐨𝐟-𝐭𝐡𝐞-𝐛𝐨𝐱 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 that cover most standard SAP scenarios.
𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫-𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 for niche or advanced cases.
𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐀𝐏’𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 like SAP Datasphere (coming soon).
This post focuses on the first two options: built-in and partner-enabled integrations. The third, strategic SAP-Microsoft integration, will be the subject of a future blog.
