When the MAGAphones Admit They Lied: What Else Were They Lying About?

Candace Owens. Ben Shapiro. Tucker Carlson. FOX News.

They built the MAGA machine. They lied for it. They got rich from it. And now, one by one, they are peeling off, walking back, and pretending they were never fully onboard. But we remember. We remember the ragebait headlines, the daily gaslighting, and the countless hours of televised hypnosis that brought a nation to the brink.

And now that some of them are finally admitting (or at least revealing) that the MAGA narrative was flawed, corrupted, or manipulated, we have to ask:

What else were they lying about?

Because MAGA wasn’t the only product these media influencers were selling. Alongside their political grift, they sold something even more damaging:

The climate hoax.

The Same Mouthpieces. The Same Playbook.

Tucker Carlson, who now speaks with a faint messianic clarity about government corruption and elite coverups, spent years mocking climate science as alarmist garbage. He called Greta Thunberg a mentally ill child. He said climate activists were trying to control your life.

Candace Owens once declared on air that she believed climate change was a hoax, citing her high school science teacher.

Ben Shapiro, though more polished, routinely downplayed the urgency of climate change, insisting that "market solutions" would magically solve a problem he barely acknowledged.

And FOX News? They built an entire cottage industry on climate denial. For years, they gave primetime slots to fossil fuel-funded pundits who cast doubt on everything from rising sea levels to the role of CO2.

These weren’t casual opinions. They were strategic lies.

The Receipts: Climate Denial Greatest Hits

  • Tucker Carlson (2019): "Climate change is a religion. It's not science."

  • Laura Ingraham (2018): Mocked youth climate strikers as "indoctrinated, clueless snowflakes."

  • Candace Owens (2018): "I don’t believe in climate change. Sorry, not sorry."

  • FOX News Coverage (2010s): Regularly promoted ClimateGate, a manufactured scandal designed to undermine trust in climate scientists.

  • Ben Shapiro (2020): Criticized Greta Thunberg for speaking at the UN, saying she was a "pawn being used for emotional blackmail."

Meanwhile, real science was sounding the alarm:

  • The Arctic lost 75% of its summer sea ice volume since 1979.

  • 19 of the 20 hottest years ever recorded have happened since 2000.

  • Wildfires, floods, and droughts intensified worldwide.

The evidence was overwhelming. But the MAGA media needed a villain, not a solution. So they lied.

Why It Mattered: The Lies Cost Time

Every year of delay pushed humanity closer to irreversible climate tipping points. By denying science and ridiculing activists, these voices didn’t just misinform, they delayed policy, undermined public trust, and protected polluters.

All while positioning themselves as patriots.

But here's the kicker: many of them now quietly hedge their language. Some admit the climate is changing. Others say it's "not man-made" but real. They're shifting. Because the consequences are no longer deniable.

Just like with Trump, they are now pivoting only because the collapse is undeniable. Not because they care. Not because they learned. But because the tide has turned.

So What Else Have They Lied About?

If they lied about the election... If they lied about COVID... If they lied about climate change...

Then what aren't they lying about?

The answer is simple: Any truth that interfered with their business model was disposable.

Truth didn’t matter. Ratings did.

The Reckoning Must Be Public

Now that the MAGA Tower of Babel is cracking under its own contradictions, we must seize the moment to call out the broader damage. The same voices now turning on Trump must answer for their years of climate denial, their undermining of science, and their exploitation of public ignorance.

Because if we don’t call it out now, they will rebrand, repackage, and come back as the heroes of the next collapse.

They were not duped. They were architects.

And the climate crisis won’t forgive our failure to remember who built the walls that trapped us.

Free Speech Was Never Meant to Protect Liars We need verifiable, evidence-based reporting; and at this point, draconian penalties for those caught deliberately selling lies. Take all their ill-gotten gains. Free speech was intended, or at least envisioned, as a principle grounded in truth, meant to protect those who speak honestly, not those who profit from deception. It was never meant to be a doorstop for climate denial, nor a shield for personal enrichment at the expense of democratic stability. Yet today, it has been twisted into a tool for undermining democracy itself by those who pay to flood public discourse with misinformation and disinformation, so the rich can get richer while the rest of us are sold the great lie. That lie is packaged and marketed as capitalism, as a level playing field, and freedom for their supporters—when in truth, it’s a rigged system built on manufactured narratives, sold through weaponized media and unchecked digital platforms. Free speech must not be a free pass for those who poison the well of public trust. It’s time to reclaim the intent of free speech, grounded in integrity, not impunity, and hold those accountable who knowingly corrupt it for profit and power.

More on 'honest' graft: "When Donald Trump finally gets around to erecting his proposed $34 million National Garden of American Heroes, he should reserve a tall plinth for a bronze likeness of George Washington Plunkitt. Plunkitt might not be the equal of Thomas Jefferson or Ray Charles, two additional proposed honorees, and Trump might never have heard of him. But Plunkitt’s example has served Trump throughout his career. The two men, separated by a century, are spiritual siblings, united by the belief that the highest uses of politics are to enrich yourself and punish your foes. By honoring Plunkitt, Trump would honor himself, a gesture not alien to a man who ordered a military parade through the streets of D.C. to coincide with his birthday. Plunkitt analyzed the two ways officeholders could use their positions to garner personal wealth. They could rob directly from the public coffers, which Plunkitt conceded was wrong, calling it 'dishonest graft'. Or they could operate in a grayer, only slightly more ethical zone, and sell and trade political influence like a commodity. This, Plunkitt argued, was right and just, and he celebrated it as 'honest graft'."
