Which AI is safest? How Much Data Does Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, Chat GPT, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Claude, Grok Collect?
In the age where we can do anything with AI, CHAT GPT is still leading the game as the most popular AI tool on the market, with more than 200 million weekly active users.
But most Executives and business owners ask themselves if their data gets saved and shared with 3rd parties.
Marcus Lu from Surfshark researched this in detail, analyzing their privacy details on the Apple App Store.
As you can see above, the tool that collects the most data points about you is Google Gemini. It's also important to note that Google can combine that with the thousands of data it already has about you from your Google searches and YouTube.
That doesn't mean it's bad, though, as tools collect that info to improve the results they provide you.
Which Data Does Microsoft Copilot, Chat GPT, Google Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Grok collect from users? Are AI tools safe?
Gemini leads the way in the variety of data it collects: It collects 22 different data points across 10 categories, from its users.
Note that the study has data till end of 2023
Few unexpected statistics:
* The most controversial figure of all time, Elon Musk's xAI’s Grok collects the least unique data points (7).
* DeepSeek is in the middle of the pack.
* All tools except Perplexity and Grok collect user content, which is really interesting especially for Perplexity who wants to take over the place of Google Search
User content is the kind of information that is usually linked to third party data and then sold to advertisers for targeted ads on the platform.
