Who are YOU Becoming?

Who are YOU Becoming?

“It is not what we get, but who we become and what we contribute, that gives meaning to our lives.” — Tony Robbins.

We look at other people and wish we had what they have. But we have no idea about their story, struggle, mistakes, pain, or hundreds of hours of improvements they’ve made every single day to get to where they are.

Instead, what if you worked on who YOU are becoming? What if YOU started creating and working on YOUR success story. Shift your focus from them to you. What are your skills? What is your passion? What have you spent hours improving?

Take inventory of who you are today compared to yesterday, last week, last month, and last year. Has there been improvement? If so, fantastic, celebrate it, and keep building on those successes.

If not, no worries. Decide today to create a plan to get YOU where you want to be.

All it takes is a plan. A plan to become the best YOU possible. A plan to learn and grow, develop who you want to be, and accomplish what you want to achieve.

Do YOU Have a Plan

“Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans.”- Peter Drucker.

Start developing and working on your success plan for the next 1, 5, and 10 years. Start writing your vision for where you’ll be 5-10 years from now. The more detail you include, the better off you’ll be.

Unfortunately, too many people walk through life without a clear destination. They’re like a ship with no sail or rudder, tossed around going wherever the wind blows.

However, you can always know where you’re going and how you’ll get there because you have a plan. Start by asking a few questions like:

  • Who do I want to be five years from now?
  • What kind of person am I?
  • What’s important to me?
  • What do my relationships, my family, and my friendships look like?
  • Where do I live?
  • What do I want to accomplish?
  • What does my income look like, my savings, my vacations, my adventures?

Your plan will morph and change over time, and it will change as you learn and grow and understand who you’re becoming, where you want to go, and what you want to accomplish.

Every year you’ll look back at who you were the year before, and you won’t even recognize yourself because of how much you’ve grown. All because you stuck to your plan.

Are you asking the right questions?

“We thought we had the answers; it was the questions we had wrong.” — Bono.

Stop spending your time and energy asking the wrong questions that create doubt and negativity. Questions like:

  • Is this possible?
  • Do I think I am good enough to achieve it?
  • Is this the right decision for me?

These questions consume too much time, energy, positivity, and motivation. Instead, change your queries to who, what, and how? Such as:

  • How can I make this happen?
  • What’s the first step I need to take?
  • Who can help me with this?
  • What do I want to accomplish, and by when?

Spend your time and energy finding answers that will move you closer to your goals, closer to your vision, and closer to your success.

Taking Action

“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will define you.” ―Thomas Jefferson.

Taking action creates the momentum you need to achieve your goals and dreams and succeed. You will only get where you want to be if you decide to take action daily.

Successful people take responsibility for their actions and, more importantly, for their mistakes. It’s about taking responsibility for the good, the bad, the wins, and the losses.

People love to take credit for their successes, but you also must take responsibility for your failures, which is how you learn and grow. Its where real successes take root and flourish.

Responsibility is not something you do — it’s how you think and act. When you’re truly responsible for your daily actions, you believe your success is up to you; you own it.

Taking action daily is about waking up every morning, and before you start your day, taking the time to write down the three most important priorities of your day. If you were to accomplish the three things, it would be significant wins for the day.

Decide when you leave for work that “no matter what,” those three things are getting done today.

Resolve that you’re not going home today until those three things are completed. Once you’ve completed the three priorities, Celebrate the win. I’m serious; celebrate it. Have a personal pep rally!

Now go home excited and pumped that you’ve accomplished more in one day than most in a month.

Conclusion

You will be stuck in what you know if you don’t have a vision. And the only thing you know is what you’ve already seen. — Iyanla Vanzant

It’s time to start and use what you’ve been given to make your dreams happen. You don’t need to know all the answers or be more than you already are. Just start walking and working towards your goals.

Start filling in the blanks of your vision of who you’re becoming and where you’re going. Start working on the new you today and every day. Start today making progress toward whom you’re becoming.

Imagine where you would be now if you’d started a year ago. It’s time; to take action. Say yes and start moving towards the vision of your future today.

A year from now, you’ll be excited you did!
