Why nobody cares about your perfect website...

Why nobody cares about your perfect website...

I know a woman who took three years to launch her business because she couldn't get her website to be just right.

I told her 'No one cares.' And they don't.No one cares as much as you do. And once you get over that, it's phenomenal how quickly you can move on.

The perfectionism trap kills far too many expert businesses. The truth is that no one is that interested in you! The world is full of people hustling and grafting and thinking about themselves!

In today's social media culture, so many people are obsessed with the theory that everyone is looking at them, watching and critiquing their every move. There is definitely an increase in the attention people pay to each other's lives, but I still don't believe that people are as interested as we think!

Action is often about doing things half-arsed

Sometimes you've got to give yourself permission just to rip straight in and do something. Give it a shot. What have you got to lose? 'Oh no, but if I don't rush in and do it properly, all hell will break loose.' I don't think so.

I don't think most of the world would notice that you're worried because things are not quite perfect. I think it's more important just to get shit done. Perfectionism's a bitch.

When you've got some perfection shit going on, and you're convinced that nothing will be good enough, you never actually do anything. You get paralysed from inaction. You worry, 'What if it's not perfect? Maybe I can't send it, maybe I can't post it, maybe I can't ring them, maybe I can't apply for the job yet. You know, I'm waiting to be perfect, and then I'll apply for that job. I'm waiting to lose weight, and then I'll be happy. I'm waiting, waiting, waiting.'

This perfectionism paralysis is exactly why Visibility & Communication is one of the four essential masterclasses in the Expert Accelerator programme. Because here's what I've learned: experts who wait for perfect never get visible.

In the ATTRACT & AMPLIFY masterclass (Week 2 of Expert Accelerator), we tackle this head-on. You'll learn how to:

  • Create content that captivates (even when it's not perfect)
  • Develop a social media strategy that serves your goals without draining your energy
  • Build networks that actually matter
  • Implement lead generation that fills your pipeline with people you'd genuinely want to work with

The session transforms interest into actual visibility with systems that feel authentic rather than sleazy. Because stepping into your light doesn't require perfection - it requires action.

What are you holding back from?

What are you holding back from taking action on because you reckon you've got to be perfect at it?

In which areas are you waiting to be perfect before you can take action? Before you can make your life better or before you can do something special that you've been longing for?

My theory is that half-arsed is better than no-arse. So I would rather jump in and get something done.

The world responds to action. Not perfect action. Just action.

I've spent 30 years taking imperfect action in business and the last decade helping experts overcome perfectionism paralysis. My Expert Accelerator programme (July 2025) includes the ATTRACT & AMPLIFY masterclass specifically designed to get experts visible without waiting for perfect. Limited to 20 participants.

OMG the website learning experience! Brilliant example. Of getting sucked into a pit that's hard to get out of. Unless - you have this program! GOLD!

To my great chagrin, I once spent $10k having a website developed and a similar amount getting business cards and other collateral developed. I now have a website that I don't really like but who cares? I spend a couple of hours a month tweaking it. There are lots of other areas of our businesses where we try to be perfect (or at least great) where 'half-arsed' is all we need. Thanks for your encouragement (as always) Lisa O'Neill.

Thanks for sharing! I needed to read this today, it’s a great reminder that it’s okay not to be perfect, especially for a perfectionist like me. 🙂
