Why Would a CEO Want to Meet Me? The Truth About Value, Stewardship & Meaningful Connection

"The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘I will store all my grain and goods and say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’" — Luke 12:16–21

This parable has always struck a deep chord in me. It’s not a cautionary tale about success—it’s a reminder about stewardship.

We don’t truly own anything. Influence, wealth, and networks are entrusted to us for a time—and we’re responsible for how we use them.


Abundance Over Scarcity: There’s Room for Everyone

The world is not short of opportunities—we’re often just short of belief. I’ve come to realise that an abundance mindset is what separates people who build lasting influence from those who constantly chase it. There is enough space for all of us to thrive, as long as we dare to dream bigger and commit to the work. Growth isn’t zero-sum. In fact, the more we lift others, the higher we rise. I am committed to being part of a circle that supports, not competes—and that’s how I aim to create value.


Breaking the Mental Container: Why I Coined ‘Containerisation’

But here’s what stops many of us—including myself, at times—from stepping into that abundant space. I call it containerisation. It's the invisible box we build around ourselves—the mental prison formed by fear, self-doubt, and resignation. When we stop believing in our voice, stop trying new things, or convince ourselves that we’re “too old to change,” we shrink. Our dreams shrink. Our relationships shrink. Our identity gets reduced to past definitions. Containerisation isn’t about talent—it’s about the thoughts we allow to rule us. To grow, we must think beyond our current selves, seek out people who pull us upward, and be brave enough to do what others won’t. This is how we break the container.


So why would people of influence want to meet me?

That’s a question I’ve asked myself, and maybe it’s the same one you’ve pondered when reaching out to someone "above your level".

The answer lies in this: Value creation is not about status. It's about alignment.

CEOs, managing directors, and high-performing leaders don’t look for people who are already successful—they look for people who are intentional, humble, hungry, and teachable. They look for stewards.

And that’s the role I aspire to grow into daily.


How Do I Bring Value to Influencers?

Here’s what I’ve learned in my own journey:

  • 🔍 I Do the Work Most Don’t I research, I learn, I reflect. I strive to understand the trends, gaps, and pain points in their industries. I walk in with questions, not requests. I bring insight, not just admiration.

  • 🤝 I Make Genuine Introductions Sometimes, value is in the who, not the what. If I can connect someone to the right partner, supplier, or even an up-and-coming talent, that’s a contribution that money can’t buy.

  • 🎯 I Don’t Waste Their Time High-level individuals respect clarity and purpose. I don’t meet to “pick your brain”. I meet to offer something useful and to ask meaningful questions that provoke fresh thinking.

  • 🙏 I Show Appreciation & Follow Through Gratitude isn’t a one-time thank-you. It’s shown in how you apply what someone teaches you, how you keep them updated on the impact of their investment in you, and how you one day pay it forward.


What Do I Hope to Learn From Them?

More than knowledge, I hope to learn how to lead with grace, how to handle influence with humility, and how to build platforms that serve others—especially the underserved.

When someone gives me their time or mentorship, they’re not just helping me succeed—they’re shaping the steward I’m becoming.

If you're a CEO, founder, managing director, coach, or changemaker—thank you for what you do. Many of us watch, learn, and aspire quietly in the background.

But I also want to say: I’m not just here to take. I’m here to build, give, and grow.
