A warm welcome to new subscribers and a big thank you to existing readers. Your commitment to personal and professional growth drives me to seek out new ideas, insights, and resources.

In this edition, I am focusing on a theme that resonates deeply with many of us: being changed. I am also sharing some great tips on journaling and reflection to help you get there.

Want more?  Of course you do - but you can only get there by change.

I got tired of people saying I was too old to change and “better the devil you know”.  I refused to stay trapped because of money.   I left a well paid corporate job in my 50s because I felt I deserved better.

I felt so uncomfortable in my old life and being myself always felt risky.  Embracing change has made me feel safe.  I no longer fear someone tapping me on the shoulder about my “contribution” and asking me to be smaller than I am.

Change is a constant in our evolving world.

You are being changed by everything you do, read and engage.  Don’t stop. Grow.

Keep moving💜

Sandra

The Life Edit

Is this a want or a need?

I believe you can only answer that question through thoughtful reflection.

When I first began documenting my personal growth journey, I didn't know how transformative it would become.

What surprised me most was the deep connection between journaling, and mental well-being.  I learnt that many of my “wants” were triggers from my past and no longer needed.  By writing it down it became clearer to see.

Don’t aim to be perfect

You build courage and competency by practice.

The pursuit of perfection keeps you trapped. You will never achieve it and you will lose confidence along the way trying to be perfect. Better to aim to develop an understanding of your triggers and responses. That is real life.

You are your own comfort

When I find myself stressed or anxious, writing down my thoughts and feelings helps clear my head, reduces anxiety, and brings clarity to things that were once unclear.

Your journal is a mirror reflecting where you’ve been and a map guiding you to where you want to go.  When I want comfort food I now journal instead.  Try it.

Since 1989, Oprah has used a daily gratitude journaling practice that she credits with transforming her perspective on life and success.

Key lessons from Oprah's journaling journey:

  • Used journaling to maintain authenticity while building a global brand
  • Demonstrated how consistent self-reflection can lead to better business intuition
  • Created a ripple effect by sharing her journaling practice with others, inspiring many leaders to adopt similar habits
