First the
Andrej Karpathy
's talk yesterday and now Elon Musk's interview. I took notes along the way. Here's some points that really stood out about the future and where it's headed, and my take.
- We're all programming computers in ENGLISH now - This isn't just an upgrade, it's a complete paradigm shift. Everyone and their grandma can now be a programmer and builder. My take: Communication is super important skill that all the leaders should be testing for, during hiring. Communication + Judgement skills.
- Digital superintelligence is coming THIS YEAR or next - Not in decades. Elon says we're at the "very early stage of the intelligence big bang." My take: So true. Things are accelerating. 3 months ago, feels like 2 years ago.
- The economy could become 1000x-1,000,000x bigger - We're talking about wealth creation beyond human comprehension. And you're alive to witness it. My take: I hope we also close the gap between the rich and the poor in the process - we win only when everyone has equal access to opportunities.
- Everyone becomes a programmer overnight - "Vibe coding" means you describe what you want in plain English, and AI builds it. No 5-year CS degree needed. My take: We are seeing this in real time. I am going to be starting a series starting next week, vibe coding live - to show you all the power of this.
- We're in the 1960s of AI computing - Like mainframes before PCs, we're time-sharing AI in the cloud. The personal AI revolution hasn't even started yet. My take: My mind is spinning.
- Truth is the #1 priority for AI safety - Elon's warning: "Rigorous adherence to truth is the most important thing" - even if politically incorrect. My take: This has always been the case, even more so now.
- Build Iron Man suits, not Terminators - Focus on AI that augments humans (partial autonomy) rather than replaces them. Keep humans in the loop. My take: We are doing this at Hyperleap AI trying to empower humans rather than replace them - but in the long term, this is a really hard one to keep it in a controlled way.
- Being useful > Being famous - Elon's advice: "Try to be as useful as possible. It's incredibly difficult to do true work." My take: Incredibly important that every leader think this way.
- First principles thinking is a superpower - Break everything down to fundamental truths. A rocket's raw materials cost 1-2% of its price. Where's the inefficiency? My take: Mind blowing example to demonstrate the power of first principles and how to ACTUALLY think in first principles terms.
- Failure is the price of innovation - SpaceX had a 90% chance of failure. Tesla almost went bankrupt. The fourth launch saved everything. My take: Keep going. We never know.
- AI flipped technology adoption - Usually military → corporations → consumers. With AI, it's backwards: we're using ChatGPT while governments lag behind. My take: 100% true. This is also, why with our product, we've been quietly moving into SMB space away from enterprise deals
- Your reality-feedback loop determines success - Elon: "If your ego-to-ability ratio >1, you break your feedback loop to reality." My take: I hope lot of leaders today get this one.
- We might be the only intelligence in the galaxy - The Fermi Paradox suggests consciousness is a "tiny candle in vast darkness." We must protect it by becoming multiplanetary. My take: Scary and exciting at the same time.
These two visionaries just handed us the playbook. What we do with it is up to us.
Must Watch these talks. You will get a glimpse into the future and also a thank you from your future self 🎯
