Your Liver is Your Lifeboat
Two men are in a leaky rowboat. One has a big bucket. The other has a spoon. Guess who helps the boat stay afloat the most?
This is what a healthy liver does. It bails out the daily water (toxins, sugar, medications, fats, stress). But if it’s burdened for too long, even the hardest working liver starts to fall behind.
That’s when your boat starts to sink. Not overnight, but slowly, as health debt builds.
But I'm betting that you rarely think about your liver. I didn't for the first 40 years of my life, and it almost cost me my life. (story for another time)
It is the unsung hero of your health.
And look at this ↓. Your liver is HUGE! (about the size of a football)
If it stops working, it's a BIG deal because of everything it does. (over 500 tasks!)
When overwhelmed, your liver starts storing fat (a condition called fatty liver). Most of the time it's non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (or NAFLD), and it can silently disrupt all your systems WITHOUT setting off any alarms on standard labs.
Then you're prone to things like weight gain, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, gout, and dementia.
Fatty liver is more common than you’d think, affecting more than 1 in 3 adults. Many of us are on the path to a fatty liver and don't know it.
But you can change that! Fatty liver is highly reversible through lifestyle, if you catch it early.

Test & Protect Your Liver
If you’re over 40, carry weight around your middle, have less-than-ideal cholesterol, high blood pressure, or blood sugar issues, I recommend two steps:
Get the right tests done. I've put together a checklist of 23 things that give you a good risk assessment of your liver health. It includes things like AST, ALT, uric acid, insulin, and apoB. I will give you my list in a spreadsheet I created to calculate your liver score. Book a time on my calendar so I can explain it to you. (Otherwise it will be very confusing)
Protect your liver with daily habits. I created a Bucket-Builder Bingo card to help you improve your liver health. These items span my 4M Method of Mindset, Mend, Meals, and Movement)

Q: My doctor said my labs are normal. Am I in the clear?
A: Short answer...No.
Liver enzymes like AST and ALT are poor early indicators of fatty liver. They usually only rise when liver cells are already inflamed or damaged, but sometimes they are normal even with a fatty liver. So, look at your WHOLE metabolic picture.
Many of the financial professionals I work with discover liver risk before it shows up in their bloodwork, thanks to tools like waist measurement, insulin levels, and my liver score checklist.
