Are You Burning Beans?

Are You Burning Beans?

In my younger days, when my family and I still lived in a rented apartment, I had a reputation for burning beans. It was so established that anytime the acrid stench of burning beans floated through the compound, my neighbors could swear I was the one burning it, and they would be right.

Now, what I noticed from my years of trial and error in cooking beans was (apart from putting in the right amount of water to prevent it from burning) no matter how many ingredients you placed in the bean pot, if the beans themselves weren’t soft cooked before adding your ingredients, it would never taste good.

The food would either be too watery, too hard, burnt bitter, or generally not well cooked.

This ultimately implies that cooking the beans well is the secret to a delicious pot of beans.

I mean, even well-cooked slightly burned beans can still taste good, especially if you’re a fan of "bottom pot". But miss the base cooking? Sheesh, you’re better off finding something less annoying to eat.

Burning beans or not cooking them properly is similar to having a badly planned out morning. That energy has a way of sipping into the entire day.

The way you start your mornings can have a significant impact on your mood and productivity throughout the day. It’s why doom-scrolling or simply scrolling through social media in the morning can dampen your productivity for the day.

If you plan your morning tasks well and accomplish them, it can set the stage for a more productive day. Therefore, it's essential to plan your mornings correctly to maximize your productivity.

Don’t burn the beans or undercook them. Lay out your most brain-tasking tasks and attempt them while the distractions are little to none. You might even find that a task that takes hours on a daily basis would take less than an hour because your focus is heightened when your day hasn’t been compromised by the hassles of the day or polluted by social media.
