You Don’t Need More Followers. You Need More Friendmakers.

You Don’t Need More Followers. You Need More Friendmakers.

We’ve been sold the wrong game.

More followers. More reach. More likes.

But if none of those people know you, trust you, or remember you when it matters?

You’re just building an audience. Not a network. Not a business. Not a reputation that travels behind closed doors.

Here’s the shift that changed everything for me:

Stop trying to go viral. Start trying to go valuable—to the right 10 people.

You don’t need more followers. You need more friendmakers.

1. Comment like someone who cares, not competes. Engage consistently. Not to “boost your visibility,” but to build a rhythm of showing up for people you want in your orbit.

2. Turn profile views into conversations. Not with a pitch. But with something like:

“Hey, saw you checked out my profile—curious what caught your eye?” Zero pressure. 100% human.

3. Share your work like a work-in-progress, not a final product. People connect with your thinking, not just your wins. And they remember the ones who show the journey, not just the highlights.

4. Use the DM like a kitchen table, not a sales desk. The best friendships I’ve built on LinkedIn? Started with: “This post hit home. Made me think of…” Not: “Hey, I help people like you…”

5. Be someone people want to root for. Celebrate others. Show your process. Stay in your lane. It’s easier to recommend someone you feel connected to—not just impressed by.

The goal isn’t to go viral. It’s to go unforgettable—to a few key people who change everything.

Because at the end of the day? Followers might cheer. But friends refer, recommend, and ride with you.

What’s one real connection you’ve made on LinkedIn that changed things for you? Shout them out below—I’ll go first.
