Are you a shipbuilder?
Most of us started our working careers as deckhands. We took orders; we completed tasks. With time and experience, we moved up to mate. We had more responsibility, did more complex tasks and entered into the corporate hierarchy. With luck and skill some of us made it to first mate, but many of us aspired to be the captain, to have our own ship. To determine our own destiny. After several years in the corporate shipyard, I identified what I really wanted to be: a shipbuilder!
I have always enjoyed leading people. I have worked hard to develop my leadership and management skills, and my teams have been successful. However, I realized that my passion is for creating opportunities for my team members. I want to prepare them with complex projects. I want to train them in how to lead. I want them to determine their own destiny. I want them to have their own ships, and the most efficient way is to build more ships.
So, 2019 will be the Year of the Shipbuilder for me. I will create opportunities for my team so they can share in the amazing experience of seeing their ship sailing on the high seas. Bon voyage!
