"Your first job doesn’t just pay you — it shapes you."

Stepping into the corporate world with KPMG as my first organization has been nothing less than transformational. The first job always holds a special place in life. It’s the door through which you enter the real world, leaving behind the safe walls of college — and in my case, it changed my perspective entirely.

I still remember what we were told in school — "Once you get a job, life is all sorted." But the truth is, life was the most sorted in school. Post-school, and especially after stepping into a job, stability becomes a myth. This is a message I believe every teacher should pass on — because only after we begin our careers, we truly realize that the real challenge begins.

My time at KPMG taught me much more than just the responsibilities listed in my job role as a Senior Analyst. Beyond the technicalities and sales metrics, I gained insights into grooming, communication, team collaboration, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence. I learned the importance of not oversharing, of being mindful in professional conversations, and the power of simply greeting everyone around you — a small gesture that builds strong interpersonal connections.

One big realization was — you must create a presence. Your name should be known. Your identity should speak through your work. While we often hear phrases like "Sit with them, eat with them, be around influential people" — I’ve learned that at the end of the day, your work and your confidence are your strongest allies. No shortcut can replace quality output.

To all freshers entering the corporate world: focus on your work, consistency, and confidence. Your performance is your biggest asset.

Working with different team members gave me valuable learning — some were amazing at writing emails, others at researching, pitching, managing data, or handling clients. Observing and learning from each of them has added something to my skillset that books or degrees could never teach.

To the entire KPMG team I worked with — thank you. Your support, guidance, and everyday cooperation have played a vital role in shaping who I am today. I will always carry that respect and gratitude with me.

"You never forget the hand that held you when you were just learning to walk — and that’s what a first job is. A hand that holds you into the real world." - Closing my learning chapter with KPMG.
