You're not a Writer until you doubt whether you are.
I'm a writer—well, maybe. I still blush when I say it because I’m not sure if I qualify. Writers, after all, are experienced, write a lot, and work hard. I’ve always wanted to be a better writer, ever since high school, where I wrote short articles.
I’m often inspired by other people’s work and wonder if I’ll ever create something that good. I get plenty of ideas, but once I start, I quickly lose motivation, staring at the blank Word document until I close it in frustration.
I have people who believe in me, a laptop, and everything I need to become a writer, but self-doubt and a lack of motivation keep holding me back. In the grind of paying bills, writing hasn’t seemed like it will pay off anytime soon.
Still, I haven’t given up. I’m willing to learn and improve every day. If you’re reading this and struggling with your path, here are a few tips to keep you going on your journey of self-discovery.
⚫️ Allow yourself to write badly, the two sides of a coin, if it turns you’re going to be the great writer you always wanted to be.
⚫️ Start with a sentence, or paragraph of that brilliant idea that you have burning up in your mind.
⚫️ Commit to a title that you will keep in mind, for it will guide you all through your piece.
⚫️ Stay loose and write it all, share what you know and what you’re thinking, then edit later.
⚫️ Read as much as you write, articles from other successful writers will give you exposure to different tactics for unique writing.
⚫️ Research, this is very important and should have come first but anyway save the best for the last. Giving your story a factual bone is crucial for the reader will discover something new within your article.
I hope those above tips help you and I pray u keep them in mind and also apply them to your daily journey of self-discovery.
Good luck.
