Welcome to Postgres Week, Day 5! ❄️♥️🐘 We’re rounding out Postgres Week with a look ahead at the future of Postgres. 🧬 Continued evolution of the software Postgres development continues to march forward with existing features planned in the future, like multi-threading. Postgres 19 has been in development since the summer and will be out in beta next spring. There are also existing features in development for logical replication that make standby machinery and high availability even better. 🤖 AI As more AI applications and agents are built - Postgres is poised to back applications of all sizes. With its flexible data typing and business applications along with the vector data type, Postgres will easily integrate with the AI applications of the future. 🧊 Postgres and Iceberg There are also exciting advancements in the world of open table formats connecting Postgres to Parquet and Iceberg.
