I was an extremely engaged student. I played basketball; I was editor of the Black Thoughts newsletter; I was a poet and speaker; and I was a volleyball and basketball coach of 12-16 year old girls. I loved to dance and generally exercise. I enjoyed reading literature, especially Black literature. I was a linguist and studied Chinese culture. I tutored the football players. I studied 70 hours a week and partied every Saturday during my sophomore year. Then, nothing but the books. I volunteered…

I protested against the Apartheid in Peoples Park. I got my heart broken, but, generally, college was a great experience for me.
