Summary

Transforming email into a trusted communication channel means using email not just for sales, but for building genuine relationships and delivering meaningful, relevant messages that people actually want to read. When businesses treat email as a conversation and respect their audience’s needs, email becomes a reliable way to connect and foster loyalty.

  • Prioritize relevance: Segment your audience and tailor email content so that each message is personalized and speaks directly to their interests or challenges.
  • Respect subscribers: Allow people to unsubscribe easily, communicate respectfully, and focus on providing genuine value before making any offers.
  • Encourage dialogue: Invite feedback, respond to replies, and make email a two-way street to build trust and meaningful engagement.

Is your email marketing actually building relationships — or just filling inboxes? If your open rates are dropping and conversions are flat, it’s time to rethink your strategy. Here are 6 smart rules that can transform your email campaigns into valuable conversations: 1. Divide and Conquer Don’t treat your audience as one giant group. Segment them by age, interests, location, or buying behavior to make your emails more relevant and targeted. 2. Make It Personal Use details like names, preferences, or birthdays to customize your emails. A personalized touch can dramatically improve engagement and click-through rates. 3. Build Trust First, Sell Later Avoid jumping straight into sales mode. Share helpful content, insights, or updates before making any offers. Relationships come before revenue. 4. Give Before You Ask People are more likely to share their email if there’s value in it for them. Think exclusive deals, useful downloads, or insider access. 5. Let People Unsubscribe Easily An easy-to-find unsubscribe button isn’t a threat—it’s a sign of respect. If they want to leave, let them go without friction. 6. Start Real Conversations Encourage replies, ask for feedback, and respond to your audience. Email shouldn’t be a one-way broadcast—it’s a dialogue. Email marketing is more than sending messages—it’s about delivering meaning. Refine your strategy. Respect your audience. Reap the rewards.

Is your email helping you build trust—or silently eroding it? In the professional world, we write a lot of emails. But we rarely pause to ask: “Is my email clear, respectful, and effective?” Here are 5 simple tips I often share in my workshops to help people write better emails: 1. Subject Lines Matter Think of it as your email’s headline. Make it specific. 🟢 "Request for Feedback on Q2 Sales Strategy" 🔴 "Quick Question" 2. Get to the Point—Quickly Your reader is busy. Respect their time. Lead with the key message in the first 2 lines. 3. Tone is Everything Emails don’t carry tone unless you put it there. “Please share the report” feels different from “Could you please share the report by EOD? Thanks in advance!” 4. Break the Wall of Text Use short paragraphs, bullet points, or bold text (when appropriate) to make it easy to skim. 5. Always End with Clarity What action do you want them to take? By when? Make it explicit. Email is more than just communication—it’s how we represent ourselves professionally. Polished writing = stronger perception = more trust. What’s one tip that’s helped you write better emails? #communication #tips #emailwriting

An open letter to small business owners  If you’re struggling with sales, read this.  Email marketing isn’t dead.  But the way most businesses use it?  That’s a different story.  I’ve seen too many emails fail.  - Wrong audience.   - Boring subject lines.   - No real value inside.  You send emails.  But nobody opens them.  You try again.  Still nothing.  Here’s the truth:  People don’t hate emails.  They hate bad emails.  Emails that feel like spam.  Emails that scream, “BUY NOW!”  Emails that do nothing for them.  But when done right?  - Emails build trust.   - Emails create demand.   - Emails drive sales on autopilot.  So here’s the fix 1. Write like a human  Would you talk like a robot? No?  Then don’t email like one.  2. Make it about them  Nobody cares about your product.  They care about their problems. Solve them.  3. Send fewer, better emails  One great email beats ten bad ones.  Quality over quantity.  Email is still the highest ROI channel.  But only if you do it right.  Your customers are waiting.  Will you give them what they want?  Fix your emails, fix your sales.
