Summary

Delegating email management is crucial for experts and business leaders because handling emails themselves often leads to lost productivity, missed growth opportunities, and unnecessary stress. The concept of “why-experts-should-stop-doing-their-own-emails” centers on freeing up valuable time and ensuring that email systems are managed by professionals who possess the skills and experience to do it right.

  • Delegate the inbox: Assign email management to a skilled assistant or professional so you can focus your energy on high-impact work and strategic decisions.
  • Prioritize your expertise: Spend your time on activities that match your unique skills and drive business growth, rather than getting bogged down in daily email tasks.
  • Build a reliable system: Trust experts to create and maintain smooth email processes that keep your communications timely and your reputation strong.

Two situations from the same business owner's calendar: BEFORE: Monday: Write newsletter (rescheduled)  Tuesday: Fix landing page (postponed)  Wednesday: Update sequences (delayed)  Thursday: Create lead magnet (someday?)  Friday: Plan launch emails (maybe next week) AFTER: Monday: VIP client intensive  Tuesday: Podcast interview  Wednesday: New program planning  Thursday: Client transformations  Friday: Strategic growth work Same business owner. Same 24 hours. Different focus. Here’s what changed… BEFORE: Revenue: Stuck at $8K/month Email list: Growing by 75 people monthly Working hours: 60+/week Launch style: Last-minute chaos New offers created: Zero Sunday feeling: Pure dread AFTER: Revenue: $25K/month Email list: 500+ new subscribers monthly Working hours: 35/week Launch style: Planned, systematic New offers created: Two Sunday feeling: Actually excited What made this possible? One decision: Stop treating email marketing like a DIY project and start treating it like the business system it is. You don't DIY your: • Legal contracts • Financial statements • Website coding Yet you're still trying to be an email marketing expert while: → Serving premium clients → Creating transformative content → Scaling your impact → Having an actual life The path from A to B is simpler than you think: 1. Admit email marketing isn't your zone of genius 2. Hand it over to experts who live this stuff 3. Get back to changing lives Because your calendar should reflect your real value. ________________________ P.S. I’ve heard countless excuses from executives and founders about why they prefer managing email themselves. Let’s break down those myths today. Ever find yourself drowning in an endless sea of emails, yet convinced only you can handle it? I get it—handing over your inbox feels like letting someone else who doesn't understand drive when you're in a rush. But here’s the truth. 𝙇𝙚𝙩’𝙨 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙢𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙨, 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙬𝙚? 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵; “𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹.” I understand—you know your brand better than anyone. However, delegating email management to a skilled VA gives you more control. Your VA can mirror your tone and style, ensuring your responses are authentic while freeing up time for strategic decision-making. 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵; “𝗘𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲.” Minor? Until it’s eating up half your day. Freeing yourself from Constant inbox checks mean gaining back those hours for innovation, growth, and yes—your sanity. 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵; “𝗡𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁.” Here’s the secret: With the right guidance, a VA can identify which emails need your attention. Critical emails are flagged for you, while the rest are handled efficiently— peace of mind at last! 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵; “𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗮 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲-𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴.” It’s not rocket science. A well-trained VA can implement an effective email management system quickly, saving you time and stress without any hassle. 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵; “𝗜’𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.” Here’s the irony: A VA can enhance the personal touch by ensuring timely, thoughtful responses. Your clients feel valued, and you stay connected to what matters, without sacrificing precious time. Email management isn’t about letting go—it’s about leveling up. Stop letting your inbox control your day, and reclaim your focus on what matters. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻? 𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗠. • So I guess we're starting 2025 with absurd comments like this one: "If the systems you're installing require an expert to manage, then they're not good enough." But this commenter continues by proving that the first statement is ridiculous by saying: Systems for management, Experts for optimization. Well, yeah, Tom, that's the f*cking point. (background: this comment came from a post on how DTC brands will let go of their email marketing experts and think they can handle their job going forward.) But that's the problem: the founder or operator is NOT an expert to "handle" the email system for long-term optimization, unless, of course, they hire another email marketer. 🤦🏻♀️ It's not that email marketers want to hold on to clients forever, but the fact our "expertise" is always watered down to "sending a couple of emails" is insulting. Just last year, I had a client do this. His spam complaints are at an all-time high because there is no list management. His automations were never optimized over a 12-month period. And he's just duplicating campaigns, which is prone to code breaking. I know because I still have access to their account (and yes, I have contacted him multiple times about the problem). I know DTC founders and operators wouldn't do this to their ad marketers. I am quickly coming to realize that the biggest abusers of email marketing are the actual founders/operators because they can "handle" it (by passing it on to that junior intern who has never sent an email in their life, let alone handled a full system). Hire the experts ffs. Let them handle your email programs because email is not a "set it and forget it" system.
